Birmingham’s property developers clubbed together to help fund a Christmas party for children in Ladywood, on 14th December.
The Ladywood Project, a community charity aimed at helping struggling families, has hosted the event for the last six years.
This year’s party was the biggest yet, catering for 150 under 11s and their parents.
The donors include Paradise Birmingham; Brindleyplace; Regal Property, developer of The Bank on Broad Street and Sterling Property Ventures, who are behind the 103 Colmore Row office tower. Property For Kids, which raises money for disadvantaged children, has also chipped in.
Gerardine Giblin, Ladywood Project, said: “More than 45 per cent of the children in Ladywood live in poverty, that’s 24 per cent higher than the rest of the country.
“For their families, putting food on the table and heating their home is a year-round challenge, but Christmas is particularly difficult when you have money worries.
“Within 24 hours of us making our funding appeal, some of the city’s top property developers had pledged cash to help make the event a reality. We are so grateful for their generosity.”
Other corporate donors include Acme Whistles, Capital Letters, Fellows and Hydrapower.
