Vintage clothing enthusiast Kate Seymour is bringing her unique style and eclectic clothing collection to Wapping Wharf with the opening of Something Elsie.
Something Elsie, a new vintage clothing shop, will open at CARGO 2 within Wapping Wharf, Bristol’s flourishing harbourside quarter, in early June.
Kate, who also shares a space in art shop Casper in Bedminster, specialises in sourcing colourful vintage clothing from the 80s and 90s and lovingly giving them a new lease of life. Her eye for picking colourful stylish designs along with the current popularity for retro fashion is sure to make Something Elsie a big hit on the harbourside.
Kate Seymour started collecting all things vintage when she was studying for her film and TV degree in York and went prop hunting in markets and car boot sales. When she moved to Bristol six years ago, her long-held passion prompted her to start selling retro clothing at the Tobacco Factory market and she hasn’t looked back.
Kate says: “My love of vintage probably goes back to my gran who had amazing fashion sense. I have always loved searching for unusual pieces and I get a real buzz out of finding quirky clothing that will make people smile. Plus, as we all strive to be more sustainable, buying second hand is ethically a sensible choice.”
Something Elsie will be moving into the unit previously home to Temple Cycles, which has decided to focus its efforts on one location and develop its larger workshop and showroom just outside the city centre, with the aim of creating a cycling hub with everything under one roof.

Wapping Wharf is ideally located in the heart of Bristol’s historical and cultural quarter, with its tree-lined pedestrian and cycle route, Gaol Ferry Steps, providing an important connection between south Bristol to the city centre.
Now home to 40 independent businesses, over 30 of which are based within CARGO 1 and 2, the popular waterfront neighbourhood now offers some of the city’s best independent restaurants, shops and cafes. From a florist to a barber’s, and from a yoga studio to an art gallery, plus an incredible array of cuisines on offer, including fine dining, street food and more, Wapping Wharf has something for everyone.
