Independent building consultancy Malcolm Hollis has announced that associate Shaun Miller has recently gained consultant level accreditation with the National Register of Access Consultants (NRAC). Miller will join an exclusive group of trustworthy professionals accredited to provide specialist advice in this field. He is based at the Winchester office of Malcolm Hollis.
The NRAC is the only UK formal accreditation for experts in this field, for both access consultants and access auditors, recognised as a reliable resource for companies in search of expert advice in these sectors. Founded in 1999 as a special project with the Centre for Accessible Environments, the NRAC provides a list of competent professionals able to advise on inclusive design and access matters within the built environment.
To achieve accreditation, members must complete a demanding assessment and attend a professional interview. They are required to have specialist knowledge of legislation, standards, and user needs in relation to disability access and pertinent design before accreditation. Accredited consultants must abide by the NRAC’s code of conduct, are required to maintain professional indemnity insurance, and show a commitment to continuous professional development.
In light of his recent achievement, Miller said: “I am very pleased to have achieved accreditation and to join such a distinguished group of consultants. The NRAC is the only recognised professional body when it comes to consultants providing professional advice with respect to inclusive environments, and I hope to continue to contribute positively to the sector.”
Philip White, partner at Malcolm Hollis, remarked: “Very few commercial access consultants have received NRAC accreditation. This achievement is a testament to Shaun’s hard work and dedication. He is a credit to his profession, and we look forward to seeing his career continue to flourish at Malcolm Hollis.”
