Car brand Kia Motors will be expanding its offering in Leicestershire, following a deal led by East Midlands-based Nelsons Solicitors.
Family-run franchise Kia Loughborough will be opening a second showroom due to the success of its site in Leicester Road, Mountsorrel, where it has been based since 2003.
The Mountsorrel branch will continue to run independently as a used car sales operation, while the new site in Loughborough – formerly a Citroen dealership, which has a 300 sqm showroom and a workshop with six bays – is expected to fully open in Belton Road in June after renovations have taken place.
Riaz Dudhia, head of Nelsons’ commercial property department, led the deal, acting on behalf of the buyers and their investors in purchasing the property.
He said: “It has been a pleasure acting on behalf of Kia Loughborough, a father and son duo who have built up such a successful franchise of the car brand in Leicestershire. Being part of a transaction that will make such a prominent impact for a local, family-run business has provided us here at Nelsons a great sense of pride.
“Multiple parties were involved in the deal, which made co-ordinating and completing the purchase to the desired timescale a challenge. However, with hard work and regular communication with our client, we were able to complete the purchase to all parties’ satisfaction.”
Oli Johnson, operations director at Kia Loughborough, said: “The dealership in Mountsorrel has been huge success – we’ve seen a real increase in sales recently, which we believe is down to Kia being such a fantastic product, as well as providing high levels of care to our customers. Because of this, we’ve been looking for a new site for over a year now.
“Our new branch in Loughborough was previously a Citroen dealership, which closed at the end of 2017. It’s located between Volkswagen and Mercedes so it places us in good company. We’re also really happy to announce that the move will be creating numerous jobs in Loughborough too.
“We’re a small family business and we’ve been growing organically with the brand since 2003. We have been recognised by Kia globally for our outstanding customer service and are confident this, as well as the Kia name, will make us stand out among the car dealerships in Loughborough.”
