The future of a Coventry-based health and safety firm is in good shape after its move to a new site.
OM Safety Solutions (OMSS) Ltd is a full service health and safety company that offers everything from consultancy and training courses to project management and assistance in attaining required safety standards.
OMSS Ltd was established four years ago by the father-daughter team of Daljit and Damini Sharma and following a period of sustained growth the operation has moved from the family home in Coventry to the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre in Binley.
From there, OMSS Ltd will continue to serve clients of all sizes up and down the country while developing a strong Midlands base and adding a new member of staff – who will hopefully be followed by two further team members over the next 12 months.
In conjunction with the more practical elements of OMSS Ltd’s services, the company is also working with Christopher Brown at Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) – an academic department of the University of Warwick – in developing a new range of software that will streamline clients’ health and safety processes.
“We are delighted to have completed our move to the Business Innovation Centre in Binley and hope that this will help us to continue to grow,” said Damini.
“My father has 24 years experience within the health and safety industry and ran his own business for 16 of those while I previously worked for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
“We set up four years ago and are currently working with various clients in London who are preparing to make the most of the Olympic games. Things have really sped up recently and now we are looking to expand and further develop our Midlands base.
“We look to provide a fresh, engaging and enthusiastic approach to health and safety, whilst also helping firms to understand the benefits of successful health and safety management – be they humane, economic or legal.
“As well as this, we are working on new software that will help clients further streamline the implementation of health and safety processes and make it more engaging for managers and the workforce.
“This digital side of the business allowed us to qualify for the Ignite programme that helped us move into these new offices.
“This is a perfect location for us to continue our progression. We have a new member of staff joining us next month, who will look after predominantly customer service, sales and marketing and we hope to add an additional consultant after that.”
Penny Robb is the centre manager at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre in Binley and believes OMSS Ltd have come to the right place to grow their business.
She said: “OMSS Ltd have developed a really impressive business over the past four years and appear ready to take the next step.
“We have vast experience assisting firms that have reached this stage and will use this to help OMSS Ltd as much as we can.
“We can already see how they are planning to move forward and with the support we can offer that process can be made quick and simple.”
