The site of Derby’s former cattle market has been sold by Derby City Council to premium car retailer, Inchcape.
The 11 acre site will be used by Inchcape to develop two state-of-the-art motor dealerships and a vehicle preparation centre.
Cushman & Wakefield acted on behalf of Derby City Council to agree the deal. Automotive Property Consultancy Limited acted on behalf of Inchcape on the acquisition.
The site is located in a strategic position on Chequers Road, one mile from the city centre and in close proximity to the A52 linking Derby with Nottingham.
Demolition of the old cattle market is due to begin in Q2 2018, with the first of the dealerships due to open in summer 2019.
Gemma Constantinou from Cushman & Wakefield’s Logistics & Industrial agency team commented: “We are delighted to have agreed the sale of this strategic gateway site which will transform the former cattle market. Due to its prominent location we received a high level of interest from a range of purchasers before agreeing the sale to Inchcape within six weeks.”
Alex Merricks, Franchise Director, Jaguar Land Rover, commented: “We are looking forward to opening our modern and customer-friendly Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships and after-sales centre on Chequers Road. This is a great example of how we are investing to create jobs and better serve the people of Derby.”
