Birmingham’s landmark office building 55 Colmore Row came under the spotlight when law firm occupier, Pinsent Masons, hosted a tour of its offices.
Around 40 property experts were shown around the impressive premises during the tour hosted by the British Council for Offices (BCO).
Guests at the event, sponsored by Chapman BDSP, were also told of the journey the international law firm had taken in completing its move to the heart of the second city’s business district.
Pinsent Masons became 55 Colmore Row’s first new tenant when it relocated from The Wesleyan Building, taking two floors of office space after it was transformed by a £30 million redevelopment.
Rob Groves, of property developer Argent and chairman of the BCO’s Midlands and East Anglia committee, said: “55 Colmore Row has been the talk of the town for quite some time now, and it is very clear why. It is a stunning building.
“Pinsent Masons is a major international law firm with a culture that fosters innovation, collaboration and flexible approach to working, so it was wonderful to walk through its offices and see how the firm has created an environment that reflects its ethos.”
National fit out and refurbishment specialist Overbury delivered the fit out of the 40,000 sq ft office space on behalf of Pinsent Masons. It created an open office arrangement for its workforce, an impressive meeting suite and a new staff restaurant while the installation of bespoke joinery created a unique finish.
Global property consultancy Savills became the second high profile name in the city to sign up to 55 Colmore Row, agreeing a 15-year lease on 16,956 sq ft, taking the entire top floor. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has also taken space at 55 Colmore Row and will occupy the building’s fifth floor.
Landlord IM Properties’ vision to create London-style offices in Birmingham is clearly paying off, with the property company attracting some of the largest occupiers known to be in the market for new Birmingham headquarters.
