Property consultants Alder King and Turner Locker are reporting a good level of interest in secondary retail locations in Exeter city centre.
Acting on behalf of Land Securities and the Crown Estate, Alder King and Turner Locker have seen a spate of recent lettings in the vicinity of Paris Street and Sidwell Street.
Dominic Rosenbaum from Alder King says, “We have enjoyed a good level of interest from potential occupiers in shops in this location which enjoys a good level of traffic and pedestrian activity and is close to the Princesshay Shopping Centre.
“Renewed confidence in this part of the city centre was given an extra boost following news of the opening of the new John Lewis department store, which is due to open this autumn.”
Recent lettings in the vicinity include lettings to national brands including the former Focus DIY store on Cheeke Street, let to the British Heart Foundation for a furniture and electrical store, and the former Post Office on Sidwell Street which was let to Savers Health & Beauty.
In addition lettings to independent retailers include the former Creative Rooms furniture store on the corner of Paris and Sidwell Street which was let to The Bed Expert and 15 Paris Street let to an independent fashion retailer.
The marketing agents have two good opportunities which remain available to let – the former Blacks store at 181-182 Sidwell Street and the former Household Bank at 171-172 Sidwell Street. Both shops are available on flexible lease terms at competitive rentals.
