National law firm Irwin Mitchell has announced four new partners who will be starting in its London office in early September.
Adrian Barlow joins as National Head of Real Estate and will lead Irwin Mitchell’s commercial real estate practice which currently consists of over 30 commercial real estate partners and more than 40 other commercial real estate lawyers across eight UK offices. Adrian joins from Pinsent Mason where he was a partner and successfully led the firm’s property group from 2004 to 2016. He specialises in advising both public and private sector organisations in project strategy and the implementation of real estate portfolio and business change management. He has advised household names, FTSE100 and overseas companies investing in the UK.
Sarah Cardew joins from Teacher Stern as Head of Commercial Tax. Sarah previously worked at Pennington Manches and Berwin Leighton Paisner. Sarah specialises in Corporate tax, with particular emphasis on M&A, Property tax, Employment tax and VAT- she is a member of the Law Society’s VAT and Duties Sub- Committee which comments on draft VAT legislation to HMRC.
Jeremy Raj joins as Head of Residential Property in London. Jeremy was previously at Wedlake Bell where he was Head of the Residential team from 2006 to 2013, was an elected board member and one of four Practice Group leaders with responsibility for the private client, immigration, family and residential property teams. He advises on all aspects of residential property with a particular emphasis on residential investment, development and funding, landlord and tenant work, as well as portfolio acquisitions, disposal and management issues. He has strong experience with overseas investors and in high end London residential property.
Richard Geraghty joins as a partner working in Irwin Mitchell’s PI division. Richard joins from Slater and Gordon UK where he was a Principal Lawyer (LLP member) in the Personal Injury department specialising in high value and complex serious injury and fatal accident claims. He was the lead client partner for personal injury work for the Police Federation who refer several PI and clinical negligence cases every year and he had a lead role in setting up the firm’s client funding arrangements.

The announcement follows on from Irwin Mitchell’s posting of its 2016/2017 financial results last week which showed a 6% revenue increase to £235 million.
