Savills has agreed the sale of 50 acres (20 hectares) of land at Eurocentral in North Lanarkshire to Lidl on behalf of Scottish Enterprise.
The site will accommodate a new 750,000 sq ft (69,675 sq m) unit, currently under construction, and will be the supermarket chain’s new distribution centre in Scotland as it upsizes from existing premises in Livingston.
David Cobban, director in the business space team at Savills Scotland, comments: “This move has allowed Lidl to design and build its own bespoke unit in the heart of Scotland. We are extremely pleased to be able to support the company’s ongoing growth in Scotland at Eurocentral.”
Paul Wedlock, project manager at Scottish Enterprise adds: “Eurocentral is currently home to many businesses, employing 4,500 people, and we are delighted Lidl has chosen to join them. This latest investment cements Eurocentral as Scotland’s premier distribution park.”
Adrienne Howells, head of warehouse expansion at Lidl, adds: “We are incredibly proud of the teams here at Lidl that have been working in the background to get our new warehouses off the ground, and would like to extend our thanks to all those involved for their hard work and dedication.”
Lidl was unrepresented.
