Property consultants Alder King have let a prominent retail property on Tewkesbury High Street to Betfred, the world’s largest independent bookmaker, for a new betting shop.
Originally established in 1967 in a single shop in Salford, the company has grown dramatically in recent years and now boasts a portfolio of nearly 1,400 properties across the UK.
Its new Tewkesbury store is based in the town’s prime retail area at 2 High Street. The 1,513 sq ft unit also provides first and second floor ancillary accommodation and a courtyard area to the rear which also provides access.
John Hawkins, associate at Alder King which acted jointly with Bulleys for the landlord KJA Properties Ltd, said: “Tewkesbury’s High Street has seen its vacancy rate fall steadily in recent years. We are delighted to have let this unit to Betfred, a successful business which is investing significantly in the country’s high streets.”
Emmanuel Jones acted for Betfred in the transaction.
