In a nationwide competition to uncover the commercial property market’s most active agents, Lutterworth-based chartered surveyor, Wells McFarlane has placed second in two categories.
The Estates Gazette deals competition ranks companies based on the number of transactions completed across all property types and Wells McFarlane achieved second place in both the East Midlands office lettings category, as well as in the overall Leicestershire category.
Michelle Mills, director at Wells McFarlane said: “Being one of the top two agents in Leicestershire and the East Midlands is a significant achievement for our business, which operates from just the one office. Last year, we secured third and fifth places respectively in these categories, so to enter the top two and further compete with multi-office, national companies is a massive improvement. It certainly underpins our plans for further growth.”
Some of the deals for which Wells McFarlane was recognised include letting over 6,000 sq ft of office space in Market Harborough; 18,000 sq ft in Hinckley; 11,000 sq ft in Leicester and 22,000 sq ft in Lutterworth; with other transactions completed from Northampton to Castle Donington in both the office and warehouse/industrial sectors.
Michelle added: “These results indicate that the regional property market is performing well and we’re definitely seeing increasing demand for good quality office space as well as industrial units under 10,000 sq ft. However, although we’ve seen stock levels improve in the big shed sector with an increasing number of speculative builds in the county, we are yet to see substantial construction commence to fill the gap in the small industrial and office sector. Good quality space is in poor supply. On a local level, plans in the pipeline to develop Lutterworth East will include employment land allocation which will result in new commercial development bringing opportunities to Leicestershire businesses in a prime M1 Junction 20 location.”
Wells McFarlane’s position in the top two active agents marks another milestone in the consultancy’s growth, following on from the recent news of their relocation to larger premises in their home town of Lutterworth and success as the UK’s Best Property Consultancy in the International Property Awards.
