West India Quay Ltd, the joint venture between Land Securities and Schroder UK Real Estate Fund (‘SREF’), welcomes three new F&B brands, Burger & Lobster, Drake and Morgan, and Pizza Pilgrims to West India Quay, its celebrated leisure offer adjacent to Canary Wharf.
These new arrivals strengthen West India Quay’s identity as a popular weekend and night-time destination, reflecting the scheme’s evolution from traditional F&B, to a more youthful, modern tenant mix, with all restaurants benefitting from extensive outside waterfront dining space.
Burger & Lobster has chosen West India Quay for its first waterside restaurant, following its launch in 2011 in Mayfair. Bringing its distinctive taste combinations to the Docklands for the first time, Burger & Lobster has taken advantage of its exceptional quayside location, offering an outside terrace, complete with ‘Pina Cola-Bar’.
Specialising in innovative, handcrafted cocktails and grilled British dishes, Drake and Morgan is due to open at West India Quay in Summer 2017. Founded in South London in 2008, each Drake and Morgan bar is unique, with the brand’s new Docklands bar set to include attractive outside dining space overlooking the area’s North Dock.
Pizza Pilgrims was founded by two brothers following a road trip across Italy, and has a growing chain of restaurants in select locations across London. West India Quay is the newest addition to the Pizza Pilgrims portfolio where it will offer its signature street-style Neopolitan delicacies upon opening this summer.
West India Quay is well-connected, just a short distance from Canary Wharf underground station, Poplar and West India Quay DLR stations. Canary Wharf’s new Crossrail station is due to open in December 2019 and will connect West India Quay directly to the City of London, the West End and Heathrow.
Originally built in the 1800s, the historic dock was used to hold cargoes of rum, sugar and coffee from the West Indies. Renowned for their bare, exposed interior décor, each of the new operators will utilise the historic fabric of the converted Grade I-listed Docklands buildings within their fit-out works.
Speaking on behalf of West India Quay Ltd, a joint venture between Land Securities and Schroders, Jessica Berney, Deputy Fund Manager of the Schroder UK Real Estate Fund, commented:
“By adding these three dynamic F&B brands to West India Quay, we continue to improve our leisure offering and dining experience for customers. In providing high-calibre food and beverage offers we can cater to the area’s weekday working population, and strengthen West India Quay’s identity as a vibrant weekend destination too. With West India Quay’s footfall only set to rise thanks to the future opening of Crossrail nearby and further development around the Docklands, we see significant opportunities for rental growth here as demand in the area grows.”
