Property consultants JLL will be marching in Leeds Pride this Sunday 7th August. The first global surveying firm to be represented at the annual event, JLL will be joining thousands of people expected in Leeds this weekend for a celebration of diversity and acceptance of the LGBT community.
Staff from the firm’s residential and commercial teams based in Leeds along with colleagues from London will be marching in Sunday’s parade to show support and their commitment for change and a more diversified property industry.
Prior to the parade, JLL and law firm DLA Piper will be hosting a breakfast networking event with guest speaker Alison Lowe, chief executive of Yorkshire-based wellbeing charity, Touchstone.
Jeff Pearey, Lead Director – Yorkshire & the North East at JLL, said: “Leeds Pride is a great opportunity for JLL to support the LGBT community and its allies and aligns with our own ambition of building a more diverse and inclusive workplace.
“The UK property industry has needed to up its a game for a long time in terms of diversity and equality. It’s no secret there is still some way to go – but change is definitely happening. For us marching as a group at Leeds Pride for the first time is a huge statement of our commitment to change not just at JLL but the property industry as a whole.”
JLL launched its own internal network over two years ago called Building Pride. The network exists to JLL’s Building Pride aims to promote diversity within JLL and the property sector to create a secure, respectful and accepting environment where LGBT professionals are empowered to reach their full potential. Since its launch, the group has been commended by Stonewall, the lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality charity, and has ranked highly amongst our property peers in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index. More recently, the network was shortlisted for Network Group of the Year in the British LGBT Awards 2016.
