Bruton Knowles has appointed Carl Kesterton and Nicola Harrington as associates at its office in Birmingham.

Carl has more than 16 years’ experience in building surveying, working with a range of clients, including local authorities, public sector, retailers, developers, landlords and tenants.

Previously head of building surveying at Gleeds in Birmingham, Carl has joined Bruton Knowles to help drive the growth of the firm’s building consultancy team in the Midlands, using his extensive knowledge and contacts within the industry.

Nicola is a specialist in compulsory purchase and compensation matters, including the negotiation of temporary land access arrangements, land sales and acquisitions, as well as valuation, estate management and general professional work.

She is returning to Bruton Knowles having previously worked for the firm from 2002 to 2004 before setting up and running her own consultancy business. Nicola was also head of professional services at Hall Auctioneers.

Ian Pitt, partner and head of Bruton Knowles’ Birmingham office, said: “We are really pleased to have Carl and Nicola on board at a time when the office is enjoying a period of sustained growth.

“The building consultancy team, under Adrian Walsh’s leadership, is expanding at an impressive rate and Carl’s experience will be valuable in helping the team push on further.

“Compulsory purchase work is a big part of our business and therefore securing Nicola’s services to head up this area is real coup for the office.”

In addition to Carl and Nicola’s appointments, Bruton Knowles has promoted May Dudley to senior surveyor. The office has also added to its client services team with appointment of Samantha Duffy as client accountant, while earlier this year Luke Stansfield was appointed as commercial property manager.
