The Gibraltar Limited Partnership is pleased to announce the opening of a brand new 38,800 sq ft (retail) Primark store at Fort Kinnaird Shopping and Leisure Park in Edinburgh. British Land is Property Adviser to the Gibraltar Limited Partnership.
The distinctive new building, which features bespoke bronze cladding and a double height shop front, was designed by architect 3D Reid and provides a unique retail environment for Fort Kinnaird shoppers.
James Varley, Asset Manager for British Land, said: “At Fort Kinnaird we continue to improve the retail and leisure offer to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our shoppers. The new Primark is an example of how we work closely with our occupiers to meet their needs and deliver great stores. The new Primark with its innovative design is proving to be a really popular addition to the scheme.”
Breege O’Donoghue, Group Director, Business Development, Primark, said: “We are delighted to open a new store at Fort Kinnaird, the second Primark store in Edinburgh. This is an important opening for Primark and we look forward to bringing the brand to more customers.”
The opening of the store follows completion of Fort Kinnaird’s new leisure extension which opened in 2015. The 57,000 sq ft extension features a seven screen Odeon cinema and a range of restaurants including Pizza Express, Nando’s, Five Guys, Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito and TGI Fridays. It was completed as part of a wider £80 million investment programme which focused on extending the retail and leisure space across four HUT assets.
The arrival of the leisure extension, extended trading hours and the opening of Primark have contributed to impressive job creation at Fort Kinnaird, with 1,000 new roles created over the second half of last year alone. Primark has employed 247 staff at the new store, with each employee sourced through the Fort Kinnaird’s Recruitment & Skills Centre a private, public and third sector partnership which supports employers in seeking local candidates and helps jobseekers find and retain employment in the area.
British Land is the Property Adviser to HUT and Crestbridge is Manager of HUT.
