Leading property consultant CBRE, alongside joint agent Inglis Howie, has announced it has secured a new tenant for the top two floors of 67 Hope Street on behalf of client Riverside Capital Group Limited, resulting in 50% occupation of the building.
thestudio, which offers unique, flexible and creative event spaces where guests can meet, train or entertain in city centre locations across the UK, has taken a ten year FRI lease of floors eight and nine, totalling almost 12,500 sq ft of top quality accommodation.
67 Hope Street, which comprises 65,000 sq ft over ten floors, fuses classic and contemporary architecture by combining iconic red sandstone with a stylish glass frontage.
With a stunning double height entrance foyer, the building sits opposite Glasgow Central Station, within close walking distance of Buchanan Street, the city’s most popular retail area.
The open plan, flexible and efficient floor plates range from 6,000 sq ft and are virtually column free. The development also includes 14 secure car park spaces and has cycle racks with shower rooms and changing and locker facilities.
Commenting on the new location, thestudio’s commercial director Julian Kettleborough said: “Our first venue has been operating in Birmingham since 1999, followed by Manchester in 2010 and Leeds just last year. We’ve been keen to explore opportunities north of the border for some time and when we viewed 67 Hope Street we were instantly impressed, not only with the unique and adaptable nature of the space but also by the fact it is located in the very heart of the city, with easy access to the transport network which is exactly what our guests require. We are very much looking forward to launching our first Scottish venue later this summer.”
Sasha Stupar, director at Riverside Capital, commented: “thestudio is a fast-growing company that identified a real gap in the market for superior meeting and event spaces that offer short term solutions for its clients. I am thrilled the business has chosen 67 Hope Street as it seeks to expand its operations into Scotland for the first time and I am confident the prime location and high quality specifications will bolster its imminent success.”
Alistair Urquhart, associate director at CBRE, added: “Following the letting of the ground, first and second floor to one of the UK’s largest gym operators, PureGym, this deal with thestudio is a real coup for 67 Hope Street and testament to the flexibility of the space and its desirable location within Glasgow.”
CBRE and Inglis Howie represented landlord Riverside Capital whilst Cushman & Wakefield acted for the tenant thestudio.
