Colliers Bristol TRYathlon means fitness and fun for a good cause

Professionals are being urged to get into training for this year’s Colliers Bristol TRYathlon event, which is set to be the biggest yet.

The annual event has attracted growing numbers of entrants since it was launched by commercial property agents Colliers International in 2013, and last year over 170 individuals from over 40 leading businesses took part.

This year the TRYathlon will take place on Friday June 17, and as in previous years it will be held in the grounds of Tockington Manor School, near Bristol. It will comprise a 400m swim, a 16km bike ride and 5km run, which can be done in teams of three or by individual competitors.

Tim Davies, head of the Colliers International office in Bristol, has competed in every TRYathlon. He said: “The TRYathlon has become the biggest and best fun-filled fitness event of the year for local professionals.

“There is always a fantastic atmosphere on the day, and in addition the training that takes place in the months before the event is widely regarded as a great way to get fit by preparing for the competition.”

“We have already had over 100 entries, and expect this year’s event to be the biggest yet.”

Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, has been chosen to receive all proceeds from the 2016 TRYathlon, which costs £40 for an individual entry and £90 for a team entry.

Tim Davies said: “Wooden Spoon is a fantastic charity that helps disadvantaged and disabled children through rugby, and we are delighted to be supporting them in their life-changing work which is entirely funded by challenges and events such as TRYathlon.”

At the 2015 Colliers International TRYathlon, fastest man was Iain Hissett of Hydrock in a time of 55.22. Jo Crofts of Knight Frank was the fastest female competitor while the fastest relay team was from WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff.
