Leading Cardiff property specialists Bruton Knowles has moved to Oddfellows House on Newport Road.
The experienced team – headed up by senior partner Mike Rees, with associates Nick Worman, Caroline Jones, Lisa Roberts and team administrator Melanie Aust – has appointed six new members of staff to help tackle Commercial and Rural Valuations, Compensation, Building consultancy and Land Development work.
Their new base will be Oddfellows House, situated in a prominent position on the north side of Newport Road near Queen Street Railway Station.
Cardiff property veteran Mike Rees said: “We were intrigued to learn that the building is the last surviving remnant of what was a whole block of grand Victorian villas and townhouses – the majority of which were demolished to make room for Cardiff’s planned financial district back in the 1960s.”
Built in 1858, number 19 Newport Road was originally the Spanish Consulate.
The Society of Oddfellows – which occupies part of the building – is a friendly society which emerged from the medieval Trade Guilds.
“Like the Oddfellows organisation, Bruton Knowles has branches all over the country giving us a huge range of commercial contacts. Oddfellows House gives us the right space for our needs as well as great facilities close to the city centre.”
Mike Rees went on: “The move coincides with a period of unprecedented growth across the city. We have established an enviable relationship with our client base, which, thanks to the steady recovery in the wider Wales economy, is growing larger.”
The team handles work for a number of top clients including the Banking and Social Housing sector as well as organisations such as Network Rail, National Grid, Natural Resources Wales, South Wales and Gwent Police and a number of private and public sector landowners.
