Public consultation for new employment development in Evesham an overwhelming success

A public consultation during which St. Modwen presented its plans to create new employment opportunities in Evesham has been hailed an overwhelming success, with local people expressing delight at the new jobs and investment it will bring to the town.

More than 40 local residents and interested parties attended the event, hosted by St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, at Evesham United Football Club last Wednesday. They were able to take a closer look at St. Modwen’s proposals, which include offices, warehouses and industrial units, along with a pub, restaurant, hotel and car showroom.

St. Modwen’s planning team was on hand to answer any questions or concerns about the proposed development, which will build on the success of the adjacent Vale Business Park, attracting local, regional and national businesses to the area, and could create up to 1,500 jobs once completed.

An outline planning application will be submitted in 2016, with the start on site earmarked for 2017. The proposals include substantial landscaping and planting at the site, access to which will be facilitated through the realignment of the existing roundabout on the A46.

A local resident who attended the consultation responded to the plans, describing St. Modwen’s proposed development as, “a welcome addition to employment in the Evesham area”, and urging the regeneration specialist to “bring it on quickly”.

Peter Rudd, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “Consulting with the public is an important part of the pre-planning process and we were extremely pleased at the turnout from local residents and business owners who took the opportunity to find out more about the new development.

“The proposed scheme represents significant investment in Evesham, bringing businesses and job opportunities to the area, and the comments we received on the day were overwhelmingly positive in support of our plans.”
