Opportunities to prosper will be the focus for the private and public sector consortium that will be promoting the Southampton and Portsmouth region at MIPIM UK this week. The event will also serve as the launch pad for a Portfolio of Hampshire development sites, ripe for investment, which will be made public for the first time at the event in London.

The multitude of key development sites available within Hampshire will be presented collectively for the first time, thanks to the creation of a new directory of commercial development opportunity areas. Collated by Hampshire County Council with sponsorship from Lambert Smith Hampton, the publication has been devised to open doors to new economic growth in this part of Southern England which is seeing such substantial investor and developer interest.

Amongst those promoting the investment potential of the region as part of the wider MIPIM UK delegation will be Lambert Smith Hampton, Portsmouth City Council, Hammerson plc and Southampton City Council.

Business South, which is co-ordinating the consortium of South Coast professionals exhibiting at the national conference, has drawn on support from both the public sector and the Solent LEP to ensure the region’s prominent presence at the key business networking forum.

From the transformational regeneration schemes such as Royal Pier Waterfront in Southampton and Whitehill & Bordon to major commercial developments such as the re-development of Portsmouth city centre and the proposals for Adanac Park on the outskirts of Southampton, the Solent is bustling with new investment, construction and business development.

Other confirmed South Coast partners attending the event include: Aecom, Bouygues, Crest Nicholson, Ordnance Survey, Blake Morgan, Lucent, Turley, with local authority support from Hampshire County Council, East Hampshire District Council, Havant Borough Council, as well as Southampton City Council and Portsmouth City Council.

Sally Thompson CEO of Business South said: “MIPIM UK represents a great opportunity to showcase all that makes our region a great investment prospect.

“Our private sector led partnership is ensuring Portsmouth, Southampton and the Solent region is promoted to a national and international audience.”

Councillor Luke Stubbs, Cabinet Member for Planning, Regeneration and Economic Development at Portsmouth City Council, said: “This is a great opportunity to showcase our region to people who can make big investment decisions. We in Portsmouth have a lot to talk about, including a significant area of the city opening up for development at Tipner East and West and Port Solent and exciting plans for the seafront and the city centre.

“In addition, there are the positive economic development benefits to the region of the national headquarters of the Land Rover Ben Ainslie team based right here in the city. The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series positions Portsmouth as a venue for world class events and places the city on the international stage.”

Andy Hodgkinson at Lambert Smith Hampton adds: “There is a wealth of activity afoot along the south coast; we are seeing increased private sector interest thanks to the investment opportunities the region offers, paired with all-important engaged, ambitious and investor-friendly public sector partners. As such, we were delighted to support the creation of the key development sites Portfolio, to draw all of the region’s development sites together in one place to promote a clear vision for ongoing investment.

“MIPIM UK serves as a great forum to present this area, which is ripe for further growth, and the portfolio of development sites to attending investors. As agents on the ground, we look forward to talking with delegates about the range of opportunities available in this thriving part of the UK.”
