Aluminium fabricators Dudley’s Aluminium has completed work on a landmark contract, supporting the construction of Swansea University’s new Bay Campus.
The £2.2 million contract saw the company provide key structural and architectural aluminium and glazing – manufacturing and installing custom curtain walling and glazing across the 65-acre site.
The campus is now home to Swansea University’s College of Engineering and School of Management, as well as the Swansea Bay library. Around 5,000 students will attend the campus every term, and 1,000 staff members will be employed there.
The Bay Campus development is part of a £450 million regeneration project in the area, and has created 7,000 new jobs for the local community.
Commenting on the project, Dudley’s managing director Colin Shorney said: “While we operate nationally we are particularly pleased to be involved with this project due to both its nature and the benefit it has brought to the local economy.
“We work with a number of educational organisations across the UK and we believe our work at the Swansea Bay campus has shown our expertise in the marketplace, while helping to create a long-lasting legacy for the institution.”
Dudley’s completion of its contract at Swansea Bay is the second time the company has completed work for Swansea University. The company previously installed aluminium glazing and curtain walling at the Institute of Life Sciences 2 building.
Other contracts Dudley’s has completed in the Swansea area include the Swansea Bus Station, as well as the Welsh Investment Strategic Partnership building on Swansea’s waterfront.
Dudley’s reputation for quality has been recognised with several industry-related accreditations. The company is CHAS and Achilles accredited, Constructionline registered, and certified to manufacture “Secured by Design” products.
