The Parkway Hotel & Spa, Cwmbran hosts the Rugby World Cup 2015 preview dinner with one of the game’s all time greats, Jonah Lomu, on Thursday 10th September 2015.
The organisers have kindly nominated Wooden Spoon as their charity for the evening. Wooden Spoon was established in 1983 & the Wales region is one of 38 regions in the UK. It helps disadvantaged children, mainly in special needs units in mainstream education. Earlier this year Wales & Lions legend Tommy David opened a play area supported by Wooden Spoon at Bodringallt Primary School.
Jonah Lomu burst onto the international rugby scene during the 1994 Hong Kong Sevens tournament. He then stunned international rugby audiences (and unsuspecting players) at the 1995 Rugby World Cup, when he scored seven tries in five matches, including four in the semi-final against England. After the game, England captain Will Carling said: “He is a freak and the sooner he goes away the better”.
Jonah Lomu is still to this day the Rugby World Cup all-time top try scorer with 15 tries. Ian Solkin, the Managing Director at The Parkway Hotel said “ The Parkway Hotel and Spa is extremely proud and excited to be hosting another prestigious event. This is a once in a lifetime chance to see one of the world’s most famous rugby superstars and we very much look forward to offering some renowned South Wales hospitality. ”
The evening will commence at 7.30pm and will include a sumptuous three-course dinner, photo opportunity, rugby world cup chat, live Q&A, raffle and charitable auction.
