Colliers International has appointed the newly elected RICS West Midlands Regional Board Chair, Monique Royle, as an Associate Director to its Birmingham Licenced & Leisure team.
Joining from GVA, Monique brings with her over 10 years of experience as a valuations surveyor in the licensed and leisure sector. Royle started her property career as an Estate Surveyor and latterly Area Manager for leading independent ‘pubco’ Martson’s before moving to the consultancy side, working for Bruton Knowles and more recently GVA where she spent eight years in their Birmingham Hotel & Leisure team.
Royle joins Colliers International’s Licensed & Leisure team with a national remit, using the Birmingham office as a base from which to visit properties across the UK. Monique will have responsibility for valuing a range of assets from pubs and clubs, to more niche properties such as health clubs, bingo halls and visitor attractions, on behalf of major Banks and private clients.
Monique also recently spent twelve months on secondment to RBS where she worked within the Bank’s Global Restructuring Group providing advice on all aspects of property to relationship managers on matters of valuation security, asset management and exit strategy.
On the appointment Paul Hands, Director, Licensed & Leisure, Colliers International, said: “This appointment further strengthens Colliers’ niche valuation offer, both in the West Midlands and nationally. Monique’s experience in the licensed and leisure sector, in particular her deep understanding of how pubs operate, will be invaluable to the team and inform the work we do across the UK.
“Monique is a well-known figure in the regional property sector and her years of experience in undertaking Redbook valuations for a range of properties has led to her recent appointment as Chair of the West Midlands Regional RICS Board. We wish Monique the best of luck in this high profile role and look forward to working with her on a day to day basis as a valued member of the Colliers Birmingham team.”
Monique added: “Colliers’ reputation in the Licensed & Leisure sector was a big draw and I look forward to working with the team in particular the other specialist valuation surveyors based at the Birmingham office. My experience of working at RBS gave me an in depth understanding of the role of property as part of a Bank’s security and I hope to bring this valuable knowledge to my new role at Colliers.”
Monique was recently elected as Chair of the RICS West Midlands Regional Board taking over from 1st August and will be responsible for overseeing the organisation’s business plan in the region, raising the profile of the work that the RICS does in the West Midlands as well as acting as a spokesperson for the Board over her two year tenure.
The appointment comes just months after Colliers International welcomed Ben Brown to the Birmingham office. Also joining from GVA, Ben is a valuation surveyor specialising in the Hotels sector.
