Shropshire Council hosted the launch of the Shrewsbury Vision Regeneration Framework at the Theatre Severn on last week.
The event gave investors, developers and associated professionals invited to the launch, the first opportunity to view the newly-launched framework and highlight the new and exciting future developments in the town.
The Shrewsbury Vision Regeneration Framework will provide the blueprint for dynamic and sustainable change in the landscape and fortunes of Shrewsbury. The framework outlines the vision, on how the Shrewsbury community want to see the town progress in the years to come; strategy– how work across a number of fronts, including housing development, accessibility and economic development can contribute to the Vision; and Delivery – a series of actions and a framework to progress the strategy and deliver on the Vision.
Lead planning adviser Gary Halman, highlighted the unique opportunity Shrewsbury is offering vs. the national climate and why and how Shrewsbury is interesting place for developers.
Councillor Mike Owen, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Prosperity, said, “Following an intense period of consultation and planning with all stakeholders, Shropshire Council is very proud to announce the launch of the Shrewsbury Vision Regeneration Framework which establishes a clear and inspiring strategy up to 2026 that will prepare the town for sustainable growth.
“We hope this event will give developers the incentive to visit the town and see the opportunities for themselves and ultimately encourage long-term investment in one of Shropshire’s leading market towns.”
Councillor Malcolm Price, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Prosperity added: “Everyone who has been involved in the development of the Shrewsbury Vision Regeneration Framework are committed and share a genuine passion and enthusiasm for this town.”
The Vision and Regeneration Framework has been developed through engagement with the local community, with workshops and consultation including young people, business representatives, public sector partners including the Town Council, Shropshire Council and the wider resident population. The ongoing support and commitment of these stakeholders and others will play an important role in taking the Framework forward.
