Hutchings & Thomas has taken a leaf out of its own book with a move to a new location in Newport city centre.
The established commercial property practice has relocated from its imposing offices at Newport’s Gold Tops, where it’s been since 1995, to an equally prestigious address in the city’s iconic Clarence House.
Haydn Thomas, Director of Hutchings & Thomas, said the move from its eye-catching office at the corner of Godfrey Road, opposite Newport Civic Centre, would allow the business to consolidate and grow.
Mr Thomas said: “We’ve moved from cellular offices, across four floors with a total space of some 2,500 sq ft at 10 Gold Tops to 1,350 sq ft of ultra modern, open plan space at Clarence House.
“Latterly we’ve only been using about forty per cent of the available space at Gold Tops as head count has slimmed down. The move to Clarence House is sensible, cost-effective and will allow the business to come together all on one floor with ability to expand in the future.
“Clarence House is as prominent, if not more so, than our former offices at Gold Tops -everyone is familiar with the big blue building in Newport and if they’re not it’s easy to point out.”
Mr Thomas said: “We advise clients, faced with the current and continuing challenging economic conditions, to closely consider their overheads. A major cost facing businesses is office space and we have advised clients to downsize. We’re now practising what we preach.”
Hutchings & Thomas, which represents CNC Investments owners of Clarence House, has taken a suite on the seventh floor with unrivalled views across the city, the River Usk and Rodney Parade.
Clarence House commands sweeping views over Newport, the Bristol Channel and the surrounding area offering a total of 100,000 sq ft of modern office accommodation on 11 floors. The office block is served by an adjoining Italian restaurant, Rossinis, on the ground floor, has excellent car parking and is a short walk from Newport city centre.
