Leading solicitors renews lease at landmark Cardiff office scheme

A leading solicitors firm has extended its lease on a Cardiff office scheme, in a deal secured by DTZ, part of UGL Services, together with joint agent Cooke & Arkwright.

Thompsons Solicitors has demonstrated its commitment to Agincourt House and signed up to a new 10 year lease. The firm currently occupies 8,192 sq ft on the basement, ground and first floors within the building which forms part of Fitzalan Court, a courtyard style city centre office scheme. DTZ and Cooke & Arkwright acted on behalf of the landlord.

Alex Easton, Associate Director at DTZ commented: “Fitzalan Court is a landmark scheme in Cardiff city centre and provides some of the best located and flexible office accommodation in the city. The recent programme of improvements implemented by the landlord has helped to retain high calibre occupiers such as Thompsons Solicitors.”

Fitzalan Court scheme, which is located off Newport Road, extends to just over 71,000 sq ft. Last year, law firm MLM Cartwright also agreed to extend its lease on the whole of Pendragon House within the scheme.

Ben Bolton, Associate Director at Cooke & Arkwright, added: “A recent decision by the landlord to rationalise the service charge costs of the estate has given Fitzalan Court a significant advantage when compared to other similar schemes in the city which have been stifled by high service charge costs. We are presently in talks with a number of other parties who have expressed strong interest in offices.”

Thompsons Solicitors has had a presence in Cardiff for the last 40 years and describes itself as ‘the most experienced personal injury law firm in the UK’. The office provides a range of specialist legal services to people across South and Mid Wales.

Lynda Thomas, Estates/Purchasing Manager at Thompson Solicitors said: “We have been at Fitzalan Court for over six years now and during this time the office has served as a great base. We look forward to expanding our business at this location.”
