St Luke’s Hospice has moved its community based services to a refurbished office building in Crownhill, Plymouth in a deal brokered by leading city property consultancy Bruton Knowles.
The new office space will run alongside existing premises at the hospice’s head office in Turnchapel, Derriford Hospital and the Income Generation department based in Plympton.
Glenn Kelly from the firm’s Plymouth office said the acquisition of Units 3, 4 and 5 Brooklands will be home to St Luke’s Community Care Team, Crisis Team, Education and support services. The building will not be used for patients and is intended for office space only.
Deputy Chief Executive at St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, Steve Statham said: “The facilities will be the location of our Care at Home services.
“At St Luke’s we provide care for patients at home not only in Plymouth but across the South Hams, and Dartmoor so it is important for us to have a location that would give our care team of specialist nurses, social workers and occupational therapists easy and quick access to these outlying areas.
“Brooklands ticked all the boxes.”
He went on: “The new facilities will replace the hospice’s current office base at Pearn House. It will save the charity money and be more environmentally friendly, so it’s a win win all round.”
St Luke’s has leased around 6,000 sq ft at Brooklands, which is located some four miles to the north of the city centre. The contemporary two-storey building is close to the major road junctions, includes 27 car parking spaces and has been recently refurbished by the landlord.
Glenn Kelly from Bruton Knowles’ Plymouth office said: “St Luke’s were fairly specific in their operational requirements for a more contemporary base to support their team.
“With changes in legislation charities have to ensure that their place of work is fit for purpose. Brooklands offers a modern office building that is energy efficient and DDA compatible. I am sure it will quickly become a landmark for all in the city. We are very proud to support St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth.”
