National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has secured a further project at Skypark, the South West’s £210 million business park development.
Wakemans has been appointed by Skypark developer, St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, on a £7 million project to provide a new 59,869 sq. ft. distribution centre for express delivery service DPD (UK). Wakemans has taken on a wide variety of responsibilities and is acting as contract administrator, quantity surveyor, CDM co-ordinator and BREEAM assessor.
Wakemans has been involved at Skypark since 2012 having worked on the £3 million biomass Energy Centre that was a flagship project of the first phase of development at this site.
Skypark combines office, industrial and distribution space with a hotel and local facilities alongside the biomass energy centre facilities in a landscaped environment of over 100 acres.
Skypark is part of the wider Exeter and East Devon New Growth Point initiative – a long term partnership between East Devon District Council, Exeter City Council, Devon County Councils and the private sector. The vision is to build sustainable communities in Exeter and East Devon with the aim of providing skilled employment opportunities for residents close to where they will be living. In total the growth programme is expected to deliver around 20,000 new homes and over 25,000 jobs across the Growth Point area over the next 15 to 20 years and is worth well over £1bn.
