Atria Edinburgh, the City of Edinburgh Council’s landmark Grade A office development, has announced it has secured another new tenant for Atria One, resulting in level one being fully occupied.
Global firm Aon, the largest insurance broker and provider of risk management services in the UK, has taken the final suite on level one of Atria One, comprising almost 4,900 sq ft of Grade A space, on a ten year Full Repairing and Insuring lease.
The firm, which also has Scottish offices in Aberdeen and Edinburgh and employs over 6,000 workers in the UK alone, is relocating from premises on Torphichen Street. The 55-strong Edinburgh team will take occupation later this month.
Todd Budgen, director of UK Real Estate for Aon, commented on the move: “We viewed several buildings in Edinburgh for our new office but nothing came close to Atria. We were very impressed by its central location, efficiency of space and the fact that we can use the stunning atrium space for informal meetings.”
Councillor Frank Ross, convener of the Economy Committee, said: “This announcement is further endorsement of the Council’s decision to develop an innovative funding package in order to create additional Grade A office space in the city. I’m delighted that AON has chosen Atria One as its new Edinburgh base.”
Ben Reed, director at JLL and joint letting agent for Atria, said: “We’ve been able to sign up yet another global, blue chip company for Atria, which is fantastic news. Aon has taken the final suite on level one, meaning that this floor is now fully let.
“We still have the ability to accommodate organisations with varying size requirements through the remaining space – ranging from an impressive suite on the top floor of Atria One, extending to almost 4,000 sq ft, right up to an entire floorplate of circa 32,000 sq ft.”
Brewin Dolphin, Green Investment Bank, PwC, Henderson Global Investors, Alliance Trust, Lothian Pension Fund and IBM are already operating from Atria One and the EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Centre) is now based on level two of Atria Two.
Space in both Atria One and Two remains available.
