When Southampton based commercial property agents London Clancy heard a temporary home was needed to allow the popular annual Shoebox Appeal to go ahead, they were more than happy to help.
Rotary District 1110 which covers Hampshire, South Wiltshire, East Dorset, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands, usually uses a warehouse at Southampton docks.
But when organiser Nick Barrett discovered the premises were not available this year, he had to find an alternative.
Chris Ridge, Director of London Clancy, explained: “ We were pleased to help Nick out of his predicament when he was left with no premises options in respect of the Rotary’s Shoebox’ Appeal.
“Fortunately the owners of Chalcroft Distribution Park had just finished their refurbishment of 12600 sq ft building and were happy to assist Rotary in this worthwhile cause.
“We were able to provide Nick with possession within days of meeting and it was good to hear that this year’s appeal as been just as successful.”
Each year thousands of shoeboxes are filled with everything from toys and notebooks to toiletries by individuals who want to share a little Christmas joy with children in a less fortunate position.
The popular annual collection by Southampton Rotary has gone from strength to strength and this year boxes are en route to Tanzania, Montenegro, Albania and the Philippines.
Nick said: “When we heard there was a problem with our usual location in the docks, we started looking around for alternatives and luckily London Clancy was able to help us.
“We collected 26,000 boxes this year and they are all on their way to their chosen destinations,” he said.
