The deal that saw the Formula E global headquarters locating at Donington Park has been short listed for a major property and regeneration award.
The Donington Park deal is competing against two other finalists in the MIPIM UK and Estates Gazette Regional Deal of the Year Award.
The award acknowledges the swift negotiation, planning and construction of the new, bespoke Western Paddock Complex, which enabled Formula E – the world’s first fully-electric racing series to base their global headquarters and ten international racing teams at Donington Park.
Duncan Green, Partner at Pick Everard, project managers for the build said, “All the partners: Pick Everard, Donington Park Racing Ltd, the Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), contractors, Vinci and the planning authority, North West Leicestershire District Council worked tirelessly to ensure the new facilities were constructed and ready for occupation before the start of the inaugural Formula E season.”
Nick Pulley, Chair of the LLEP said “Having Formula E in Leicestershire will bring substantial investment and added prosperity to the area, create new skilled jobs and attract considerable industry-related inward investment of businesses. It has already raised our profile unprecedented, international level.
“This award recognises the importance of bringing an international project which will deploy leading-edge innovations in one of the world largest markets- transport, to Leicestershire.”
The winner will be announced at MIPIM UK- the first major event dedicated to the whole of the UK property industry, taking place on 15th- 17th October in London.
