Italian hosiery and beachwear brand Calzedonia has taken a 10 year-lease at 139 Cheapside. The store comprises 1,304 sq ft and will open in early 2012.
This is the first London store for the retailer which exclusively retained Cushman & Wakefield in June 2011 to acquire five stores in the Capital, with a view to then rolling out the brand across the UK.
Calzedonia was founded in 1987 close to Verona, in Vallese di Oppeano, Italy. It currently has over 1300 stores worldwide in countries including Italy, Austria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Lebanon, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, France, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Romania.
Duncan Gilliard in the Central London retail team at Cushman & Wakefield said: “The acquisition is a sign of improving retailer demand for the City of London, aided by the opening of Land Securities One New Change Shopping Centre, directly opposite 139 Cheapside.”
