Leading property consultancy JLL is further boosting its Exeter planning team with the appointment of a new director.
James McMurdo, a dual-qualified town planner and surveyor has joined the team to drive the planning and development consultancy business for JLL, following three years at Bell Cornwell LLP where he worked as a planning and development consultant.
The appointment forms part of the expansion of JLL’s planning provision in the South and South West. JLL’s Exeter office now offers full scale planning consultancy services alongside its offices in Bristol, Cardiff and Southampton.
An experienced planning expert, James’s role will see him working primarily in the south west of England mainly for large landowners and FTSE-listed companies, and will boost JLL’s high level of expertise in the area as the strength of the market improves.
Since joining, James has undertaken work for clients such as St Modwen, The Pratt Group and Clinton Devon Estates and is currently working on a number of high-profile projects including Skypark in Exeter, the South West Exeter Urban Extension, Castle Cary in Somerset and Callington in Cornwall.
Charles Kislingbury, head of JLL’s Exeter office, said: “James has an extensive range of practice at senior levels across all development sectors and a proven track record building influential relationships and managing complex partnerships. He is a welcome and valued addition to the team and will bring fresh insight and expertise into the planning department which has plans to expand further.”
James added: “I am very much looking forward to working with JLL and its exciting range of clients. I will be using my experience to successfully maintain and build client relationships as well as supporting the business through this period of expansion.
Catherine Baddeley, who joined JLL in 2010 as a planning consultant working across the Exeter and Bristol offices has now relocated to Exeter permanently to support James and the wider business through the expansion process.
