One of Nottingham’s oldest institutions will celebrate its 90th Anniversary later this month at Trent Bridge. Members and special guests of the Nottingham City Business Club are due to come together on Friday 27th June for the momentous occasion.
It will be an evening of Pimms, summer canapés and live entertainment from the ‘Hasta La Huego Sunshine Band’ with prominent figures from Nottingham’s business community due to attend as well as John McMeeking, son of the club’s founder.
The Nottingham City Business Club has provided a forum for senior business people to meet likeminded members of the business community and hear the views of influential speakers since its creation in 1924. Crucially, the club achieves its aim in a sociable environment by holding lunches on a now monthly basis.
Founded in 1924 out of the Nottingham Efficiency Club by Mr J G McMeeking, the Nottingham City Business Club has hosted a number of influential speakers over the years, including Eleanor Roosevelt, Edwina Currie and Deborah Devonshire.
The club’s current president, Jonathan English, said: “It’s a real honour to be standing as president during the club’s 90th
Anniversary year because it’s such an important milestone in the club’s history, both past and present. The celebration at Trent Bridge is set to be big and we are sure it will do the occasion justice.”
