Cundall Johnston and Partners LLP, the multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, has relocated to prime office space in the heart of Birmingham’s central business district.
The firm has taken 7,000 sq ft of grade A space on the fourth floor of Cathedral Court, an office building located at 15 Colmore Row, on a 10 year lease term. DTZ acted on behalf of the landlord, Hortons’ Estate whilst GVA represented Cundalls.
Cathedral Court underwent a grade A refurbishment in 2010 and provides 28,399 sq ft of office space over four floors. The prominent building, which is located adjacent to Snow Hill station, was designed to blend in with Colmore Row’s period architecture with its curved exterior finished in Bath Stone. The ground and fifth floors are home to Barclays Bank.
Richard Norgrove, Property Director at Hortons’ Estate commented: “Together with DTZ we have managed to attract a number of tenants to this building in a short space of time. Hortons’ have invested in the building, upgrading the common areas and the M and E. Further improvements are planned to the reception and to the main entrance over the next 12 months.”
David Rigby, Associate Director in DTZ’s Office agency team, commented: “Despite difficult market conditions, Cathedral Court has proved a popular choice for high profile occupiers seeking well located space within the CBD with RLB and Dains LLP also having taken space. There is now just 7,200 sq ft available on the second floor.”
Robert van Zyl, Partner at Cundall, commented: “This is an exciting time for Cundall; with sustained growth throughout the recession we are now able to look forward to the next stage of our development. GVA helped us acquire the location on Colmore Row, which is an ideal base to help us service our clients and build relationships with new ones. We wanted an inviting atmosphere so our clients are able to drop in to see us for a chat. DTZ acted for Hortons’, who made the decision process very easy. Having just celebrated our 10th year anniversary, Colmore Row is the perfect location to start the next 10 years.”
