Corporate law firm Greenaway Scott has strengthened its team with the appointment of a trainee solicitor.
Jasnoop Cheema, 24, joins the Cardiff-based firm as a corporate commercial executive.
After graduating with a 2.1 in Biochemistry from Kings College London, Miss Cheema completed a Graduate Diploma in Law and LPC at BPP Law School for which she received a distinction, before joining a London law firm.
In her new role at Greenaway Scott, Miss Cheema is seconded to the commercial team, which has specific sector specialisms in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life-science and IT fields, where she will use her scientific knowledge and experience to assist in advising the firm’s clients.
Miss Cheema said: “Greenaway Scott is a dynamic, commercially astute law firm so I’m excited to be joining the team. The position really appealed to me as I could incorporate the knowledge I gained studying for my degree and apply it in the legal sphere. I’m looking forward to gaining more experience and learning from the team of specialist solicitors here.”
In recruiting a trainee solicitor for the team, Greenaway Scott required candidates to have a degree in either a science or maths discipline, in addition to their legal qualifications.
Rhian Osborne, director of the commercial team at Greenaway Scott, said: “As a business, we are keen to ensure that legal advice is given with an absolute understanding of our clients’ markets and we have a specialist team of lawyers with a healthcare and life sciences background.
“Appointing a trainee solicitor with a biochemistry degree makes perfect sense for us as this niche element of our business continues to grow. Jas really stood out in the interview process. We are very excited to have her as part of the commercial team and extend the specialist knowledge the team has. The various technology sectors are growing, increasing their need for legal advice and support ranging from protection of IP to larger service supply agreements.”
