Redditch property agents John Truslove and logistics group Fly By Nite have been hitting the right notes.
Fly By Nite are a specialist exhibition, theatrical, entertainment and music transportation company working with top groups such as Foo Fighters, Basement Jaxx, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs.
And, with their services in demand, that has meant significant expansion.
John Truslove acted as acquiring agents on behalf of the Redditch-based group for a 30,000 sq ft warehouse on a four acre industrial site which sits between Shawbank Road and Broad Ground Road in Lakeside, Redditch.
The facility, close to their existing base, will provide a state-of-the-art environment for testing stadium sound systems, providing a venue for major bands to rehearse before they head out on tour.
The business, established in 1990, transports production equipment for touring bands, theatre and exhibition companies to locations across the UK, Europe and North Africa. It now operates a fleet of 100 Daf trucks – more than double its vehicle capacity in 2009 – after securing new band contracts.
The company employs 30 staff and around 140 drivers.
Ben Truslove, a director of John Truslove, said: “Fly By Nite is a go-ahead business in a fascinating sector.
“This was an off-market acquisition which was a result of our unequalled market knowledge. We negotiated an excellent deal for Fly By Nite and helped smooth out the inevitable hiccups that arose during the legals.
“We want to get the message out to big companies who use regional/national agents to search for their requirements in the Midlands that our market knowledge should not be underestimated. This is particularly true given the lack of decent industrial development sites currently available on the open market.”
Carl Reed, director at Fly By Nite, said: “Our industry experience and understanding of the challenges involved when transporting large amounts of equipment has resulted in significant growth for the business in the past four years.
“Purchasing this new site is the next step in the company’s growth strategy, and has presented us with a great opportunity to develop a comprehensive rehearsal space. A full production rehearsal can take up to five days, and this will enable us to offer an essential service to clients in a central location.
“John Truslove got us a great deal and this facility will give us the perfect stage for our ambitious plans for the future.”
The extra land will double the size of Fly By Nite’s property portfolio. BNP Paribas acted on behalf of the vendors.
