Acting on behalf of a Standard Life Investments, Hellier Langston have completed a letting of unit 25 Fareham Industrial Park to Salmiakki Sports.
Salmiakki have been granted planning consent to convert the unit into a multi sport facility, which will see minority sports such as inline and roller hockey, box lacrosse and roller derby played in the new facility. They have committed to a new ten year lease on the property and the facility will be branded as the Solent Arena
Setti Mulari who created Salmiakki as a non profit community interest company was delighted to finally open the new venture and said ‘The primary reason for choosing this property was the great transport links via the M27 motorway. Roller sports players and fans can reach the facility from all directions with ease. We looked at a number of properties in the area and we were impressed with the property owner’s willingness to diversify from warehousing to a leisure use.’
Salmiakki have received support from Fareham Borough Council to set up this new venture. Executive Leader, Councillor Seán Woodward commented ‘Giving Fareham’s residents leisure opportunities for health and fun is one of the Council’s main priorities. Earlier this year, we granted £21,500 in matched funding to Salmiakki Sports. This has gone towards the cost of building the Solent Arena, a new multi-sports rink near the town centre. The multi-purpose rink will allow our residents to take part in sports that are not currently available locally or in the surrounding area.‘
Will Fulton, Fund Manager at Standard Life Investments added, “We are delighted to welcome Salmiakki to Fareham Industrial Park bringing diversity to our occupier base and a new facility for the local community. Salmiakki will benefit from the property’s great connectivity to the motorway network, an important draw for our commercial tenants.”
