Property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) raised more than £770 at its first charity quiz night in support of a local hospice.
The quiz, which LSH hopes will become an annual event, was held at The Charles Bradlaugh pub in Northampton town centre. Fourteen teams made up of Northampton’s business community, competed for the top spot in aid of the Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
The hospice provides specialist palliative care services for more than 300,000 people in south Northamptonshire. Each year, the hospice has approximately 400 in-patients and, this year alone, needs to raise over £700,000 via donations and fundraising in order to continue its work.
Quiz rounds were based on popular TV panel and quiz shows including QI, Have I Got News For You, The Million Pound Drop and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
Quizmaster James Hill, director at LSH’s Northampton office, said: “The evening was a great success and we were delighted that so many local businesses took part and supported such a worthy cause. We’re already planning the questions for next year’s event!”
QualitySolicitors Wilson Browne was crowned the winners, taking away the coveted LSH quiz trophy and a bottle of red wine for each member of the team. Rollasons Solicitors earned a respectable second place after scoring just one point less than the winning team.
Commenting on the evening, Sue Bownass from Cynthia Spencer Hospice, said: “With funding so limited at the moment, the hospice has to rely on donations and fundraising events in order for it to continue providing the level of service that patients and their families require. The LSH quiz was a fantastic evening and we’re delighted that so many businesses came to support us. Every penny really does count and, thanks to the efforts of the LSH team, we are one step closer to reaching our fundraising target for this year.”
