Leading Scottish bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis Ltd has secured a massive property acquisition to establish their global headquarters in the Falkirk area.
The international bus and coach manufacturer currently based at Camelon in Falkirk employs around 2300 employees worldwide and made the acquisition to move part of its manufacturing operations and support functions to Central Business Park in nearby Larbert.
The deal has been secured thanks to the intervention of Falkirk Council assisted by agent Jones Lang Lasalle.
Their new facility is an 85,200 sq ft building on the Business Park, adjacent to the M876, which was formerly leased by Falkirk Council.
Councillor Dennis Goldie, Falkirk Council’s spokesperson on economic development explained: “Alexander Dennis is a world class manufacturer and a vitally important employer in the Falkirk area.
“The company has expanded significantly in recent years and, by facilitating this acquisition, we have seized the opportunity to help them expand in the future enabling their global growth to continue.
“We are genuinely excited by the project as it provides one of our most important local employers a location to thrive, to sustain jobs and showcase their innovative designs.
“We are immensely proud of the company and its achievements. Alexander Dennis has been with us for over ninety years. They have a massive international presence – we want to be able to continue to support local businesses, demonstrating that Falkirk provides some of the best manufacturing in the world.”
The move will allow the company to consolidate their presence in Central Scotland and, while no new jobs will be created, the facility assists the company to showcase products and consolidate expertise in a new global headquarters.
The facility will provide a centre of excellence for manufacturing and will help in managing the space to allow operations to be sustained at the Camelon plant.
The company has also entered into a transaction to purchase a neighbouring site of 1.59 acres that enables future expansion of its operations.
