Company bosses’ from across the city will be abseiling down the city’s 7th tallest building, The Mercure Holland House Hotel and Spa Cardiff, in a bid to raise money for children’s hospice, Tŷ Hafan.
Ten businesspeople including the hotel’s general manager, Marisa Morteo will take the plunge on Monday 7th October 2013.
The abseil down the 60 metre high, 16 storey building, will officially mark the launch of the hotel’s partnership with Tŷ Hafan, a charity that provides comfort, care and support to life limited children, young people and their families.
General Manager of the Mercure Holland House and Spa Cardiff Marisa Morteo said: “I am delighted to announce Tŷ Hafan as our chosen charity of the year. I was recently given the opportunity to take a tour of the hospice and cannot praise the charity highly enough for the awe-inspiring care and consideration they give to critically ill children and their families.”
Mrs Morteo continued: “We wanted to do something ‘out of the norm’ to encourage as many donations as possible so we came up with the idea of the abseil, after-all it’s rare that staff get the chance to push their boss off the roof – literally! For us the abseil sets the tone of the partnership, we intend to implement several innovative fundraising campaigns over the next 12 months in a bid maximise fundraising for this extremely worthy cause.”
Alison Stallard, Business and Community fundraiser at Tŷ Hafan said: “Tŷ Hafan relies solely on private donations so it’s crucial for us to receive support from businesses and individuals. We’re excited to work with one of Cardiff’s most prolific hotels especially as Marisa and her team have shown enthusiasm, passion and commitment to the cause already.
