Demolition works have started at 66 Queen Square, Bristol.
The Grade II listed Georgian townhouse terrace will remain in place, but Skanska will demolish the newer section of the building to make way for a high-quality modern addition.
The new development, situated in a prime location within Bristol city centre, will offer 61,000 sq ft (5,667 sq m) of lettable office space with sustainability features integrated within the building to enhance its long-term energy efficiency.
The five-story development is due to complete in 2015.
Kelly Iles, Skanska’s development manager, said: “This is an exciting milestone for Skanska, and the result of a lot of hard work and determination from the team. Skanska’s vision to combine heritage with innovative, sustainable office space is at the heart of this project and something we are proud to deliver.”
