Bloor Homes and CALA Homes have presented a cheque for £20,000 towards the development of a new Skate Park facility in Moreton-in-Marsh.
The two housing developers handed over the donation to Cllr Rod Hooper, Chairman of Moreton-in-Marsh Town Council, at their new Moreton Park residential development, where they are building 300 new homes.
The money will be put towards a Skate Bowl which the Town Council intends to install at the Fields in Trust National Playing Fields Site on London Road, to provide facilities for skateboarders, bladers and mini scooter users, close to Moreton Park.
“This donation is not part of any legal requirement from gaining planning permission to build our new homes, but it should help improve the provision of sports and leisure facilities in Moreton,” said Darren Humphreys, managing director of Henley-in-Arden-based CALA Homes (Midlands).
“Bloor Homes and CALA Homes wanted to help benefit both the town and the future residents of our developments, so we are delighted that our donation
brings the long awaited Skate Park a good deal nearer,” added Steve Roberts, managing director of Bloor Homes Western Region.
Cllr Rod Hooper said: ”Town Council is delighted to accept this generous donation from Bloor Homes and CALA Homes and voted to put it towards a Skate Park and have deferred the Multi Use Games Area to a later date.”
At Moreton Park, CALA Homes and Bloor Homes are each building 150 new homes on land acquired from the Fire Service College.
There will be a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, and two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses. 50% of the dwellings will be affordable homes for local people from Moreton-in-Marsh and the surrounding parishes.
As part of a legal agreement Bloor Homes and CALA Homes will also contribute £320,000 towards transport improvements in Moreton-in-Marsh, £42,900 towards the town’s library and £912,598 towards secondary schooling.
