Cushman & Wakefield has been retained by Chipotle Mexican Grill, the United States-based Mexican restaurant chain, to advise on potential expansion plans in the UK.
Chipotle, which has more than 1,450 restaurants worldwide, made its debut in the UK in 2010. It currently has six restaurants trading successfully in Central London and is considering additional locations before expanding outside of the Capital.
Cushman & Wakefield recently acquired Chipotle’s Wardour Street restaurant and will now work with the company to expand its presence, focusing on sites ranging from 1,000 – 2,500 sq ft in the City and West End where the initial Chipotle locations have become a firm favourite in the casual dining sector.
Chipotle prides itself on its high quality ingredients and ethical business practices. The company has developed a vision around “Food with Integrity”, which highlights its efforts in finding better, more sustainable sources for all of the ingredients it uses.
Thomas Rose, Partner, Head of Cushman & Wakefield’s Leisure & Restaurant Team said “Chipotle is one of world’s leading restaurant brands and is already quickly becoming a firm favourite in London and we look forward to helping them develop their expansion strategy in the UK.”
With more than 1,450 locations in 43 US states, two Canadian provinces, the UK and France, Chipotle had revenue in 2012 of US $2.73 billion and employed more than 37,000.
