New website for Sell2Wales to help companies win more business

The Sell2Wales website, which has advertised more than 11,000 public sector contracts valued in excess of £33bn, has been revamped and revitalised to help companies win more business.

The Sell2Wales site has merged with the Buy4Wales site to provide an increased range of services and information for suppliers and buyers, making the process easier to use.

The new website – “Sell2Wales.gov.uk” – goes live this week and is designed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of public sector sourcing and supply chain development. The free service is available to existing and new users.

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: “In the current economic and public spending climate it is clearly important that we give Welsh businesses the best opportunity to win public sector contracts and that we maximise the value of public sector procurement spend.

“Sell2Wales is a key element to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of public sector sourcing and supply chain development.

“The new website will be more reliable and technically advanced than the current site. It will be easier for suppliers to navigate and provide easy access to a wider range of information, services and events to help businesses respond to tender opportunities.

“I want to see businesses of all sizes will using and benefiting from the new portal.”

Sell2Wales is used by all public sector bodies in Wales to advertise procurement opportunities. The current site has been successful in bringing business suppliers and Welsh public sector buyers together.

To date over 30,000 Wales based businesses have registered on Sell2Wales; over 400 public sector buying organisations have used the Site; and around 11,000 opportunities have been posted, exceeding £33bn in value since 2003.

Sell2Wales will continue to be a free service and public sector buyers will also now be able to manage the full tender process through Sell2wales.gov.uk for contracts with a value of up to £113,057. Sell2Wales can also be used by Tier 1 contractors to advertise sub-contracts.

A business using Sell2Wales can:

complete a profile to advertise their products and services to the public sector;

search for tendering opportunities by contract type and location;

receive automatic e-mail alerts on relevant opportunities; and

obtain guidance on completing tenders.

create an additional supplier profile using ‘Supplier Finder’ to promote their company to buyers and suppliers;

submit an expression of interest about a notice; and

manage responses through a sealed ‘Post-box’.

Future plans include incorporating a Supplier Qualification Information Database to make it easier for small businesses to tender for public sector contracts by enabling them, for example, to store answers to standard questions for re-use in other procurement exercises.
