The Birmingham office of accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has been appointed to work with Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) Charities.
BDO won a competitive tender for a three-year internal audit contract to provide assurance to the Trustees over the charities internal controls, corporate governance, risk management and value for money arrangements.
The team was led by not-for-profit partner Greg Rubins and manager Jonathan Lanes, supported by Louise Clews, Paul Taylor and Alex Beckett from the BDO Birmingham office.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital, which celebrated its 150 year anniversary last year, is a specialist hospital that treats up to 250,000 children every year. BCH Charities is the independent registered charity, which raises and receives legacies and donations to fund additional facilities, equipment and research for the hospital.
Jonathan Lanes, BDO LLP in Birmingham, said: “The team at BCH Charities does a superb job and it is great to be involved in such a worthwhile organisation. Our aim is to deliver the best quality internal audit and ensure they meet best practice to further support their good work.”
Stuart Reynolds, Charity Chief Executive at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charities, said: “The team at BDO impressed us during the tender process with their charity experience and good ideas. We look forward to working with them to ensure we continue to improve our internal controls and corporate governance, and to help us as we focus on implementing best practice.”
BCH Charities is currently raising funds for the Children’s Cancer Centre Appeal to build a new purpose built unit for the treatment of children with cancer from across the UK.
