Summerfield Developments’ latest commercial office development started on site on 3rd October, with the sure knowledge that the 8,200 sq ft building is already let when it is completed next summer.
Summerfield chairman Richard Lloyd said: “Turnpike is a high profile office building designed to be environmentally friendly, including photovoltaic cells on the roof and air source heat pumps.
The £2m building is targeted to achieve an energy performance A rating when it is completed in the summer of 2012. We hope to be fitting out the internal fixtures and fittings in conjunction with our client, Bechtle Direct, to provide a truly bespoke solution.”
Bechtle Direct is the UK arm of Bechtle AG, a German information technology services company based in Chippenham. Managing director James Napp said: “Our business growth has consistently exceeded targets and the company needs to relocate to larger premises to help us meet future challenges.
“With our skilled and dedicated workforce we wished to stay in the area and were delighted to learn of the new phase being built by Summerfield developments at the site in Chippenham.
“The reputation of Summerfield and the time to construct the new Turnpike offices fits both our expectations and needs. We aim to be in our new headquarters during the summer of 2012.”
The 10-year deal with Bechtle is fourth and final stage of Summerfield’s prestigious office developments at Methuen Park, Chippenham. The company’s other buildings on the business park are already being occupied by Herman Miller, Wincanton Logistics and Fleet Support.
Alder King (Swindon office) acted for Summerfield and Jones Lang LaSalle (Bath office) is the joint agent.
