National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has been appointed on a new £1.5m branch surgery in Herefordshire, boosting their total health portfolio to more than £15 million in construction value over the last twelve months.
Wakemans are providing quantity surveying services for Mortimer Medical Practice, which has surgeries in Kingsland, Leintwardine and Orleton. The project encompasses the replacement of the current outdated and cramped Leintwardine branch surgery with a new state-of-the-art facility in the village.
The facility, which has been designed by Bournville Architects, will provide much-improved facilities and incorporates sustainable design features including rainwater harvesting and photovoltaic roof panels.
Construction is started on site in April with completion in December 2013.
“We were selected for this project because of our extensive experience in this sector. We understand the complex issues around delivering these projects to the necessary budgets to meet strict business case requirements and can provide essential support and advice to our client throughout the pre-construction and construction phases,” says Wakemans’ Divisional Director Lionel Martin.
Andrew Black of Herefordshire PCT said: “The partners at the Mortimer medical practice are delighted to see the development of a new surgery in Leintwardine, as it represents a long term commitment to provide state of the art primary care facilities to the patients of north Herefordshire. We have greatly valued the advice and assistance provided by Wakemans in the development process.”
