The Mercers’ Company has secured a trio of office lettings within its City portfolio, leasing over 55,000 sq ft of first-class workspace to leading businesses in London:
- Global law firm Davis Polk has selected the Mercers’ Company’s 31,800 sq ft new office development, The Whittington Building, in a move to accommodate the growth of its London practice, upsizing and relocating its UK HQ within the capital. The five-storey mixed-use scheme is the Mercers’ Company’s latest re-development project, completing the Frederick’s Place estate rejuvenation in the heart of the City. Designed by leading architects, Stanton Williams, to deliver modern and sustainable Category A offices, this project offers outstanding private terraces on the fourth and fifth floors and has been carefully designed to be environmentally efficient through its consideration of space, heating, and cooling, as well as best-in-class facilities.
- Flexible office provider, The Boutique Workplace Company, has signed a 15-year lease for the Mercers’ Company’s 18,000 sq ft, Grade II listed 1-3 Frederick’s Place. The extensive redevelopment of the building has welcomed a new brick facade which complements the surrounding Georgian buildings and a new premium office space set across seven floors, complete with a roof terrace overlooking St Olave’s Passage.
- Leading property consultancy, Fisher German, has chosen Becket House for the relocation and expansion of its London office, enabling future growth and ambitions for the business. Taking 6,000 sq ft space on the seventh floor, they join the Mercers’ Company’s exceptional workspace in the heart of the City. Adjacent to Bank station at 36 Old Jewry, Becket House captures the evolving demands of office tenants with a Category B fit-out to current business requirements.
Simon Taylor, Property Director at the Mercers’ Company, commented: “The Mercers’ Company’s ambitions for The Whittington Building, Frederick’s Place, and Becket House projects were to make a positive contribution to our home estate by repurposing a number of vacant and dilapidated buildings. It is a true full-circle moment to see these developments come to life with the occupation of these dynamic and successful businesses.”
Neil Barr, Chair and Managing Partner of Davis Polk, added: ““We are energized about the continued growth and development of our practice in London and are thrilled to be able to welcome our Davis Polk community and clients to this fantastic space. It is important that our office spaces reflect Davis Polk’s commitment to excellence; with its strategic location in the heart of the city, cutting-edge design and extensive amenities, The Whittington Building is the perfect new home to grow our team and continue to provide best-in-class service to our clients.”
The office leasing success within the Mercers’ Company City estate enhances the landlord’s sustained reputation within the capital, which also encompasses a high-profile Covent Garden portfolio. Here the scheme has equally enjoyed a number of exciting leasing announcements from leading fashion and beauty brands, Nobody’s Child, SpaceNK, Whistles, and Lipault, all of which have committed to over 11,200 sq ft of prime retail space on Long Acre and Neal Street.
